Robert James "Bob" Moubry, Age 90 of Cedar Rapids, IA died on Tuesday, March 22, 2022 surrounded by his loving family.

A private family service will be held at a later date.

Bob was born on January 3, 1932 to James and Agnes Moubry. Bob joined the Paratroopers and served two years in the Army. When Bob returned home, he resumed a job at Universal Engineering as a welder.

Bob married Karen Kelly from Belle Plaine, he knew he had met his match. They have been married for 68 years and have travelled together around Europe twice.

Bob purchased the Shell Station on 1st Avenue and 14th Street, which he had that venture for five years. After that, Bob was hired on at Champion Spark Plug Company.

Bob always had a dream of being an auctioneer and he made that dream a reality. For 28 years, first in Cedar Rapids, then, Evergreen, CO, and finally in Phoenix, AZ, which he loved. Bob and Karen returned to Iowa and built a condo on 42nd Street, NE. They then moved to Meth-Wick Community in 2010. It was a great choice.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, an infant son, Mark, and sister, Sharla Heath.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Bob's name to a charity of one's choice.

Karen O. Moubry, 88, a resident of the Meth-Wick Community, died Saturday September 17, 2022, at the Woodlands.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday October 8, 2022, at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories, honoring both Karen and husband Bob. A Rosary will begin the visitation at 10:00 a.m. Inurnment: Private at Cedar Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Karen was born December 16, 1933, in New York City to Harold Kelly and Olga Pokorney Kelly. The family moved to Belle Plaine, Iowa, when Karen was very young, and she thoroughly enjoyed growing up there surrounded by her many friends.

Karen married Robert (Bob) Moubry on April 23, 1955, in Belle Plaine.

they raised their family and ran their business, B and B Auctions in Marion, Evergreen, Colorado and finally Phoenix, Arizona. They enjoyed traveling in Europe and were always ready for the next adventure.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents, an infant son, Mark, and her beloved husband of 67 years, Bob, who died on March 22, 0f 2022.

Karen will be remembered for always saying what she felt and meaning what she said. She was a faithful member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Cedar rapids.

Special thanks to the staff of the Meth-Wick Community for their support of Bob and Karen.

Area Woman Killed Near North Liberty

A rural Iowa City mother died in an automobile accident late Wednesday when her car left a county road near North Liberty and struck a tree.

Mrs. Darlene C. Humpal, 28, of Route 1 was thrown out of her car and killed after it went through a “T” intersection 1½ miles west of Young’s Corner, near the old Madison Township school.

Highway Patrol officers who investigated the accident said Mrs. Humpal was headed north, apparently on her way home, when she lost control of her car. The accident occurred about 11:15 p.m.

Three persons have died in traffic accidents in Johnson County this year compared with one death at this time a year ago. Mrs. Humpal’s death was the 123rd in Iowa traffic accidents this year, four less than a year ago.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the George I. Gay-Oathout Funeral Home. The Rev. Raymond M. Hudson will officiate and burial will be in Ridgewood Cemetery at North Liberty. Friends may call at the funeral home beginning at 7 p.m. today.

Mrs. Humpal was born in Johnson County on Oct. 2, 1938, the daughter of Reuben and Mabel Williamson Stoner. She was married to Stanley Humpal on June 20, 1959, in Des Moines and they had a son, Terry James, and a daughter, Debra Rae.

A lifetime resident of Johnson County, Mrs. Humpal graduated from Iowa City High School. She was cafe manager at Randall’s Super Valu store in Coralville.

In addition to her children, husband, and parents, she is survived by two brothers, Earl and Richard, both of Iowa City.



She was buried in March 1967 in Ridgewood Cemetery, North Liberty, Johnson Co., IA, Findagrave #43358496.

Daniel Warren Johnson, age 76 of Galveston, Texas passed away Monday, August 20, 2018 at Mainland Medical Center in Texas City, Texas. Daniel was born July 23, 1942 in Donna, Texas and was a resident of Galveston since 2003 formerly of Dallas, Texas. He retired with 37 years of service as a policeman and fireman. Daniel worked for Santa Clara County in California, City of Woodway in Texas and for the town of Highland Park in Dallas County. He is preceded in death by his parents, Warren and Ruby Johnson.

Daniel is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Charlie Johnson; daughters, Tami Grimmius and husband Henry, Tiffany Ross and husband Brad; step daughter, Allison Palomo; son, Timothy Johnson and wife Laura; step sons, Vincent Palomo and Matthew Palomo and wife Nichole; 13 grandchildren; along with numerous other relatives and friends.

A celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date at Nassau Bay Baptist Church.

INDEPENDENCE -- Christopher J. Wilson, 28, of Marion, formerly of Independence, died Friday, April 8, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, following an accidental overdose.

He was born Aug. 30, 1976, in Clinton, son of Gary Frank and Judy Lou Johnson Wilson. He graduated from Independence High School in 1994, the attended Kirkwood Community College, Ceder Rapids. He was currently employed at a music store in Cedar Rapids. He also was lead guitarist and music writer for a local rock band.

Survivors include: his parents of Independence; a brother, Michael J. (Jamie Larsen) of Reinbeck; a nephew, Ivan Wilson; a niece, Isabella Wilson; maternal grandmother, Verna Johnson of Independence; paternal grandmother, Thelma "Connie: Wilson of Independence; a special friend, Jennifer Bloomfield of Cedar Rapids; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
