A. C. Carr Dies In S. Charleston

A. C. Carr, 72, died Wednesday at 5.30 A.M. at his home in South Charleston after an illness of one week.

A native of Fayette County near Jeffersonville, Mr. Carr has lived in Clarke (sic) County for 48 years. He has served on the South Charleston village council and was a township trustee at the time of his death. He was a real state deaier and a substitute rural mail carrier. He had clerked many farm sales and was a member of the Methodist Church.

Surviving are his widow, Mrs Lucy Carr; two sons, Leon K. Carr of South Charleston and Albert Carr of Springfield; two daughters, Mrs. Bernice Roche of Gnadenhutten and Mrs. Jane Parker of South Charleston and five grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Friday at 2 P M. at the Sprague Funeral Home in South Charleston. Burial will be in the Greenlawn Cemetery there.

WHITACRE, Joann (Carr) McDorman 88, of Springfield, died December 7, 2014 in her residence. She was born December 11, 1925 in South Charleston, OH to Leon K. and Marie (Daugherty) Carr. Private burial will be in Green Plains Field Cemetery, Selma, OH. Arrangements handled by the CONROY FUNERAL HOME.

Prominent Clark County farmer and livestock buyer Homer McDorman, 51, of

South Charleston died in University Hospital, Columbus, about midnight

Friday. Mr. McDorman was stricken earlier in the week and had been

undergoing treatment in the hospital's intensive care section. He was moved

to a private room shortly before his death. Details of his illness have not

been disclosed but an autopsy was performed. A spokesman for the hospital

stated no official finds have been determined. Mr. McDorman was active in

Clark County politics, had served for several terms of the southeastern

Local Board of Education and the Clark County Board of Education. Only

recently he was named by M.K. Baach to serve as his campaign manager. Mr.

Baach; currently president of City Commission, is the Democratic candidate

for representative from Clark County to the Ohio General Assembly. Mr.

McDorman was a member of the Farm Bureau, the London Country Club, and was a

past director of the Boy Scouts of America Council. He also held Masonic

affiliations in South Charleston. Two years ago he made an unsuccessful race

to serve as district member of the State Board of Education. A graduate of

Selma High School, Mr. McDorman received his Bachelor of Arts degree from

Earlham College, Richard, Ind., and attended Law School at the University of

Cincinnati. He was a birthright member of the Society of Friends (Quaker)

and was a member of the Green Plains - Monthly Meeting. He actively

supported the Friends Service Committee and worked as an advisor with

various young people's groups in the church. Mr. McDorman was also a noted

trap shooter. Surviving are his widow, the former Joann Carr of South

Charleston; two sons, Larry, with the Marine Corps in the Mediterranean when

his father was stricken and David who was serving with the Marines on

Okinawa; a brother James of Selma; three sisters; Mrs. Ralph C. (Miriam)

Cooley of Houston, Tex., Miss Emilou McDorman of Santé Fe, NM, and Mrs.

James (Janyce) Mitchell of Albuquerque, NM and eight nieces and nephews.

The body was removed to Schlechty-Fichner Funeral Home in London.

WOLFE, Rose Marie

(Rosie) Carr

73, died in Houston, Texas August 2/7, 2004. She was born in South Charleston on May 3, 1931, the daughter of the late Leon and Marie (Daugherty) Carr. Her husband, Charles E. Wolfe Il preceded her in death in 1993.

She was a graduate of South Charleston High School and Northwestern University. Survivors include one daughter, Linda Kreitel of Houston and two sons, James Wolfe of Houston and Charles E. (Cheryl) Wolfe Ill of Hamilton, Virginia; two grandchildren, Charles E. Wolfe IV and Spencer Wolfe; one brother, Jim (Mary Ann) Carr of South Charleston and one sister, Joann Whitacre of Springfield. Private services will be held in Houston at the convenience of the family.
