Eugene Franklin Marsh was born on May 15, 1928, in Portsmouth, OH, the son of the late Merrill G. Marsh and Mildred K. Hastings Marsh.
He was a 1946 graduate of Portsmouth High School. He served in the US Navy from 1946-1948, during World War II. He then attended Centre College from 1948-1951, at which time he was called back to active duty in the U.S. Navy Reserves from 1951-1952, during the Korean War. He is a retired employee of Martin Marietta in Piketon, OH, for whom he was employed from 1953-1992 with over 39 years of service and after retirement, he later worked as a consultant from 1994-1997 for contractors for the upgrade of OP Procedures at the Martin Marietta Plant.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 23, the Aurora Masonic Lodge #48 of Portsmouth, and El Hasa Shriners International. He was also a member of the Goodyear Atomic Retirees Club, of which her served as coordinator of the retiree meetings for over 10 years. He was an avid antique car enthusiast and loved to drive his 1968 Buick Skylark convertible. He also enjoyed researching his family genealogy, coin collecting, was a model train buff, and enjoyed attending model train and railroad exhibits.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Blanche Cox Marsh, September 13, 2016, whom he married September 22, 1962; and by his son, Michael (Pamela) M. Marsh.
Eugene is survived by a son, Robert (Deanie) Merrifield of Portsmouth; his daughter Tammy Netzer of Columbus; a son Terry (Medina) Marsh of Columbus, OH; seven grandchildren, Tracie Marsh Burleigh, Matthew Marsh, Stephanie (Brent) Miller, Matthew (Rachel) Merrifield, Samuel Netzer, Sydney Marsh, and Calvin Marsh; and his great grandson, Alexander Marsh.
Funeral services will be conducted at noon Friday, November 19, 2021, at the McKinley Funeral Home in Lucasville with Bob Davis officiating. Entombment will follow in Memorial Burial Park where military rites will be performed by the William Baker and James F. Irwin Posts of the American Legion. Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and an hour prior to the funeral Friday at the funeral home.
He was buried in 2021 in Memorial Burial Park, Wheelersburg, Scioto Co., OH, Findagrave #234094561.

MARY A. SMITH DIES SUDDENLY
86 year old woman succumbs at home of her daughter
Mrs. Mary A. Smith, 86, a resident of Mason City for the last 30 years, died suddenly about midnight Monday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J.R. Patterson, 1530 North Federal Avenue.
Mrs. Smith was born Jan. 24 1854, in Jackson County, Ohio. She had made her home with her daughter since coming to Mason City.
Survivors include Mrs. Patterson; a grandson, Hobart Patterson, 921 Pennsylvania Avenue Northeast; and a great-granddaughter, Mary Ellen Patterson. Also surviving are two brothers, Charles Johnson, Cleveland, Ohio, and Edward Johnson, Jackson County, Ohio; and two sisters, Miss Hester Johnson, Youngstown, Ohio, and Mrs. Belle White, Jackson, Ohio.
Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, William B. Smith, who died May 5, 1917. She was a member of the First Methodist Church of Jackson, Ohio.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete. The body will be in state at the Patterson Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary A. Smith, 86, who died suddnenly about midnight Monday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J.R. Patterson, 1530 North Federal Avenue, will be held at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon at the Patterson Funeral Home.
The Rev. William Galbreth, associate pastor of the First Methodist Church, will be in charge of the services. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery. The body will lie in state at the Patterson Funeral Home until the time of services.
